Once the Aral Sea was one of the largest lakes in the world. It is a drainless saline lake that disappears from the face of the Earth. And the lake appeared more than 20 thousand years ago. In 1989, the lake broke up into two reservoirs - the Small and the Big Aral Sea, but they further dry up and decrease. All this happened due to excessive water intake from adjacent rivers for agricultural needs. According to data collected over 50 years, its area has decreased eight times. Due to the high salinity of the water, all the fish in the Big Aral have died, and have survived only in the Small Aral. Now scientists are trying to restore at least a little water level in the lake, but to achieve the previous marks seems unreal. The Aral Sea is an example of how human activity in just a couple of decades can destroy what nature has created tens of thousands of years.
