Степени сравнения прилагательных могут быть образованы синтетически (при помощи суффиксов - er и - est),

Fine - finer - the finest

аналитически (при помощи слов more-most, less-least)

interesting - more interesting - the most interesting

и супплетивно (такие исключения, как good-better-best).
