Ada wished she had been back home instead of walking about the city. 5. I hate the cold, I wish it was warm and sunny all the year round.

Таким образом, если вы хотите высказать сожаление по поводу уже прошедших событий, то в придаточном предложении следует употреблять Past Perfect, если же речь идет просто о воображаемой ситуации, то в придаточном должно употребляться Past Simple.
