The historical period "the stone age" lasted more than two million years and it was the longest part of the history of mankind. The period got its name due to the use of tools made of stone and flint. The stone was used to improve people's life and turned into tools and weapons. The first primitive tools were knives, tips, arrows, cutters, scrapers. People lived in small groups. They collected berries, plants, nuts, and hunted wild animals - deer, wild boars, mammoths.

The stone age ended at the moment when the first cities appeared. Climate changes, settled way of life, development of agriculture and cattle breeding, and the use of metal brought people to a new era.
