  1. We use Past Simple:

    - when we talk about an action which started and finished in the past. We use such words as: last week/year, yesterday, 2 days ago, ect.;

    - some regular, usual action in the past;

    - listing of action in the past.

    We use Present Perfect:

    - when we talk about an action which has connection with present;

    - when we should describe our life experience and some facts;

    - when we talk about results;

    - when the action started in the past and now has not finished yet. In this case we use the words "for", "since".

    1. It has not been raining for a month.

    2 The earthquake happened in 1997.

    3 Have you heard about the tsunami?

    4 They have not flown in a plane since the crash.

    5 When did the fire start last night?
