В 1752 году парусный корабль "Гелдермалсен" отплыл из Вампоа в Китае. Он вез 150000 предметов из фарфора. Владельцы корабля планировали продать бело-синие тарелки и блюда в Европе. Но "Гелдермалсен" таки и не добрался до Европы. Где-то в Южно-Китайском море корабль попал в коралловый риф и затонул. Сорок четыре человека сбежали, но груз корабля был потерян. В 1980-х годах ныряльщики нашли обломки кораблекрушения. Они нашли большую часть блюд, упакованных в чай в деревянных сундуках, вытащили их на поверхность. Большинство из них были, как новые. Они также нашли 125 золотых слитков.
