Повторим слова much, many, a lot of. На русский язык все они переодятся как "много", но употребляются по-разному.

Так, many употребляется с исчисляемыми существительными (теми, которые можно посчитать) : many books, many dogs.

Much употребляется с неисчисляемыми существительными (которые невозможно посчитать) : much water, much sand.

A lot of употребляется как с исчисляемыми, так и с неисчисляемыми существительными: a lot of friends, a lot of wine.

Выберем подходящий вариант. Там, где оба варианта правильные, второй напишем в скобках:

1. I read many (a lot of) books. 2. Do you know many (a lot of) funny songs? 3. Is there much coffee in your mug? 4. There's much (a lot of) cheese in my sandwich. 5. I don't need many (a lot of) potatoes. 6. He likes much (a lot of) salt in his food. 7. There're many (a lot of) new pupils in our class this year.
