    They are busy now. They were busy last week. Were you in the park yesterday? Was it cloudy yesterday? Is it cold today? Are you ready? Let's start!

    Am, is, are - are present forms of the auxiliary verb to be. Am is used for the first person singular (I am). Is is used for the third person singular (he is, she is, it is). Are is used for all the persons plural (We are, you are, they are).

    Was, were are the second forms of the auxiliary verb to be. Was is used for singular, were is used for plural.
