Every year in early March, the American city of Plant City organizes the strawberry fair at the Florida Strawberry Festival. For this he was even nicknamed the strawberry capital of the world.

I must say that such a nickname is deservedly obtained. From the most different varieties of strawberries, which are presented at the festival, just eyes run. And not only among the guests of the event, but even among the locals, who, it would seem, should be accustomed to such diversity.

This unusual holiday was born in the first half of the XIX century from a small fair. At that time, such street trading was organized not only to sell the harvest, but also to simply communicate with the neighbors. In 1930, the holiday was officially approved and declared annual. For all the time of its existence, it was carried out practically without interruptions (except for the 6-year break during the Second World War and after it).

Today the festival is also not limited solely to the sale and purchase of the main berry of the month. Visitors can also take part in various competitions, participate in master classes in cooking strawberry dishes, and get acquainted with the peculiarities of berry cultivation on local farms.

It is worth considering that most of the events are paid, the price varies from 15 to 40 dollars. If you do not want to spend a lot of money, you can just walk around the sunny Plant City - yet the weather in Florida is whispering.
