The United Kingdom is situated on the British Isles. The British Isles consist of two large islands, Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is made up of four countries - England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is a beautiful country with green fields, old castles, wonderful lakes, beautiful rivers and beautiful cities. Among these cities are Cardiff, Edinburgh and Liverpool.

London is the capital of the country. It is one of the oldest cities in the world. There are many interesting places in London. Among them are Big Ben, the Tower and St Paul's cathedral.

The official language of the country is English.

There are many rivers and lakes in Britain. The rivers are not long and the lakes are not deep. The Severn is the longest river. The Thames is the deepest river.

The mountains are not very high. The climate is mild. It often rains in the UK.
