Перед тем, как сделать это упражнение, разберемся что такое глаголы to be и для чего они нужны.

Глаголы to be

Так уж сложилось, что английские предложения не могут существовать без глаголов, и если нет обычных глаголов (to like, to want, to work, to have, to run и других) или модальных (can, must, may и других), то появляются глаголы-связки. В Present Simple нам известны три таких глагола: is, am, are. В Past Simple эти глаголы превращаются в was/were.

Was употребляется с местоимениями I, he, she, it и с подлежащими в единственном числе. Were употребляется с местоимениями we, they, you и с подлежащими во множественном числе.

Чтобы сделать вопрос, то was/were становится перед подлежащим. Чтобы сделать отрицание, то к was/were добавляем not. Стоит отметить, что неисчесляемые существительные (sheep, fruit, money, honey, water и другие) всегда стоят в единственном числе и, соответственно, употребляются с глаголами is, was. Теперь приступим к нашему упражнению.
